About 15 days ago Dexter came in from our backyard with a swollen nose. At first we thought he’d just bumped into something but two days later the swelling was getting worse and his skin was starting to break. The vet though he was bitten by some kind of insect, a bee or a spider maybe, and he had an allergic reaction to it. She put him on steroids for about 2 weeks and his swelling has disappeared now — I hope to have that photo up later. He still has some scabbing on his nose from the ordeal but it’s healing nicely. Sorry I know the photo isn’t great I took it with my phone and Steven Tyler was so worried about his brother that he kept getting in the way trying to kiss him and make him feel better.
Edit: We finally figured out Dexter had puppy Strangles. It’s an auto-immune disease with an unknown cause but it typically happens in golden retrievers, dachshunds, and gordon setters.
